The Queen among the Sri Lankan hotels

The Queen's Hotel is a 54 room British Colonial style luxury hotel, located at central hill capital Kandy in Sri Lanka. Located in the center of the city at end of the main street, this former Governor's residence is one of the oldest hotels in Sri Lanka with a history of over 160 years. It's managed by the Ceylon Hotels Cooperation.
Over 160 years old, the Queen's Hotel built proudly by the British, stands but a stone's throw away from the sacred precincts of the world renowned "Temple of the Tooth Relic of the Buddha" here is a fragrance that rises with the burning of joss sticks as offerings for the sacred Buddha, and the chants of the faithful. The annual Esala Perahera Pageant (resplendent, colorful pageant of which takes place in the hill capital of Kandy every year in the months of July and August) proceeds alongside the hotel's East and West wings, providing the most magnificent viewing facilities for the guests who are patronizing the hotel.
Located in the city of Kandy amongst splendid surroundings alongside the Kandy Lake. Five minutes from the main bus stand and the railway station of Kandy and 105 Km from the Bandaranayake intonations airport of Sri Lanka. This Hotel is considered today as a historic building originally constructed as a residence for the Governor of Ceylon and a barracks of the Ceylon Rifle Regiment. Notable attractions of the hotel are the Queen of Hearts restaurant, Royal Ball Room and The Pub Royal, the latter being the only British Pub in the city that offers service with old colonial flavor. The Lord Mountbatten Lounge Bar was named after Lord Mountbatten who was a frequent guest at the Queen's when he was the Supreme Allied Commander South East Asia Theatre with the South East Asia Command based in Kandy.
Queen's Hotel has 54 rooms in operation. 28 are air- conditioned and 26 are non-air-conditioned. The Royal Ballroom accommodates 250 guests, the Mini Ballroom 60, Lake Seminar can hold 20 guests, the Queen of Hearts Restaurant, which offers exclusive lunches and dinners for business and pleasure accommodates, the Lounge Bar and the Pub persons. The only genuine Colonial Style Pub in the city, "The Pub Royal" serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including snacks. In terms of recreation, the hotel offers billiard and live music. Foreign currency exchange facilities are also available. There is a travel counter, shopping arcade, Laundry facilities, Doctor on call, New car park within the hotel, IDD and Internet facilities at the reception and both local and international credit cards are accepted.
